12/2011 - Out Now, Ms Sharon Jackson's 'The Last Flight'

With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, computers, broadband, cars, mobile phones and work, we fail to recognise the sound of peace. Psalms 34, an extract from the Holy Bible was sung by Sharon Jackson, the author of the sketch. The soft tones of her melodic voice and harmonies make a direct connection between the listener and songstress. It also gives the listener an ambience of pure inner peace and calm.

We have all heard of the Biblical story called Adam and Eve delivered on many occasions in both film and story form in a basic and predictable way. This particular sketch delivered by the Gods Play Team has been approached from a different angle, an angle blatant to present day society, situations and attitudes.

The word of God The Bible was written many centuries ago how can we related The Bible to present day. Prior to writing this sketch the author felt compelled to answer the bothersome question of when immigration started in the Bible.

With reference the bothersome question the answer can be found in the Holy Bible, Genesis Chapter 2 verse 16 – 17, Adam and Eve had a lifetime visa in the Garden of Eden. They had the knowledge of the visa requirements which was not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Adam and Eve breached the visa requirements by eating from the Tree of Knowledge.

When Adam and Eve were removed from the Garden of Eden, (Genesis Chapter 3 verse 24), the God of Immigration (a.k.a GOI) places two Angels and a flaming sword to prevent anyone from entering the garden. It can be seen as present day border force.

The actions of Adam and Eve simply made everyone illegal Immigrants. Everyone here on earth are attempting to complete their visa application by abiding by the word of God, keeping to the commandments and instructions to gain entry back to the tree of life.

The ‘Last Flight’ play demonstrates what we the people of this world have become, with no more days left in the world, Sista D’ceiver and Sister Jane are at the airport with other characters declaring their lifestyle, in hope that they will be granted a visa, only one character clearly repents, the other avoids the truth at all cost. Enjoy the story.
